In Transit
This two series of photographs investigate relation between mental space and public space and how people behave in a state of transit in these spaces. The two transitional spaces investigated are the public area of arrival and departure on an airport, and the public space created in private spaces through the medium of television.

The first series of photographs are taken in Utrecht of 68 people who participated after being requested to model in their favorite position to watch television. People seem to wear different (comfortable) clothes when they watch television, and have a fixed position they like. The relation between a more meditative and withdrawn state of mind and an engaged position towards actual happenings in the world fascinated me.

A second series of photographs are made of passengers at Schiphol Airport checking the time of arrival or departure. These moments seem to last longer then necessary and I had the impression that a kind of mental departure takes place.
