Rave Nature

For the Festival Cement I developed a podium in a forest near the marl quarry of the Factory Enci on the boarder of Maastricht. The Enci quarry produces cement for The Netherlands and abroad. Near the factory is a forest called ‘Enci-bos’ which is build on the rest material of the factory. They are the main sponsor of the ‘Cement Festival’. The marl quarry dug off almost the whole hill called the 'Sint Pietersberg'. There are a lot of discussions between organisations who want to preserve the natural area and the factory who wants to expand their activities.
The platform is a model for a proposal for a concrete platform in the forest. For the Festival we build a light and sound installation on the platform. The public came one night with a bus to the location and were in the dark suddenly confronted with a lightshow with disco lights and the rave-song ‘Move you’re ass’ by Scooter. This performance resulted in a videowork.
