Marshut 61
This project was developed for the international summerschool of the design department of the University of Samara. In this project 90 students participated. During two weeks lots of interventions were developed.
pressrelease:
Students from all over the country and Samara have collected in a summer school at the Samara state university for design and architecture. Under the supervision of 6 professional dutch artists and designers, 90 students have worked on a project in the city. The red line in this project will be the bus route 61. The summer school intends to realise a design project within a relatively short term, that’s not an event or object stuck upon the city, but interweaves with it. Three different workshops interact with it, starting from different viewpoints and create a new daily reality:
The first, by Wieki Somers and Jeroen Bodewits, will build a new extraordinary Central Station for bus route 61. It’s the medallion that hangs from the necklace: all important information can be found here, and the location will function as a starting point and ending of the whole event. Passengers, personnel and other visitors will walk around, and be confronted with elements that all seem different than they usually appear…
The second workshop, by Ine Lamers and Rob de Vree deals with dreaming during a bus trip. This Saturday an extra bus 61 will be scheduled on the normal route. Absurdest (Russian) stories and Russian collective memory are the inspiration for performances inside and outside this special bus that actually provides dreams to the public. For instance there will be: crazy tour guide, a bus towed uphill, interventions to facades of buildings along the route and much more.
Workshop three, by Daan Emmen and Marjolijn Dijkman, deals with observations in the surroundings of the bus route. They will seek interventions that make you wonder about your own surroundings. Interactions with every day life and involvement of the public give new direction to your way of looking at reality.
