City Food

Installation

2005

City Food, Filiale, Basel, CH (2005)

This installation consisted of collected edible plants from around the city of Basel placed in trade boxes and crates and was open to the street. The installation investigated the edible natural resources in the city and challenged our knowledge about them; besides references to local food sourcing, the installation reminded us of a sort of post-apocalyptic vegetable store.

The interaction with visitors of the installation led to interesting discussions about our relationship to the natural world and its resources within different cultures. The shop was refreshed several times with new plants and spices.
